Repeal the Patriot Act

Repeal the Patriot Act

The government told us they wouldn't abuse the new powers they gave themselves under the Patriot Act, but it is now clear that they have. If you feel as I do that the Patriot Act should be repealed please join me in urging Congress to do so. http://action.downsizedc.org/wyc.php?cid=66

If the Read The Bills Act had been passed before 9/11, the Patriot Act may not have even been passed. Ron Paul is the only one I know of who voted against the Patriot Act.

Here is my letter to my representatives.

Please introduce legislation to deauthorize the Patriot Act. The government had the power that it needed before 9/11, so the Patriot Act wasn't needed. 16% of searches conducted under Patriot Act provisions violated FBI and Justice Department regulations. Somebody reading this may think that if I'm not a criminal, I shouldn't mind the government having more power. This is what they thought in Germany during Adolf Hitler's time and look what happened. The jews went along with Hitler's government because they thought they would be safe as long as they followed the nautsy government's rules. Lets not make the same mistake with giving the current United States government more and more power. Innocent American citizens could be abused by the so-called Patriot Act.

Sincerely,

Ryan Mann
